Keeping it in the Family: Punky’s Diner Continues Its 14-Year Legacy

If you’ve spent any time at The Village Medford Center over the last 14 years, you know the sound of 50s and 60s music means you’re getting close to Punky’s Diner & Pies. You walk inside, see the big red-and-white dining room and the giant “EAT PIE” sign, and it just feels like home.
But behind the scenes, a beautiful new chapter is being written for this Medford favorite—and it's keeping everything exactly where it belongs: in the family.
When founder Connie Ronda decided it was time to retire, she didn’t look for an outside buyer. Punky’s has always been about family, faith, and country—it’s the kind of place that is way more than just a job. So, the torch was officially passed to the dedicated team who have poured their hearts into the diner from day one: Kevin Harp, Alana Harp, and Mark Ronda.
Keeping it in the Family
For Alana and Mark, Punky’s is a part of who they are. Both have been working at the diner since the very first day it opened 14 years ago. Alana (who is Kevin’s wife) has always been the smiling face out front, working as a server and managing the front end. Mark (Connie's grandson) has always been the anchor in the back, running the kitchen as the manager and head cook.
When Connie stepped back, Kevin joined them to help guide the diner into this next era. And the family ties go even deeper—Connie’s taught her granddaughter Anna her ways of pouring love into making those famous, deep-dish homemade pies that are served today.
Even though Connie has stepped back, the core values and the familiar faces haven’t changed a bit. Punky’s is still built on a strong foundation of faith, family, and a deep dedication to taking care of our local veterans.
Scratch-Made Classics & Time-Tested Favorites
The team still operates as a tight-knit group, collaborating on the menu to make sure they stick to the classic comfort food people love. Almost everything is still made completely from scratch—from the hand-patted sausage and homemade country gravy to the small-batch jams, dressings, and the famous English-muffin bread.

While they continue to serve up old-fashioned favorites like the Friday clam chowder and homemade Reubens, there is one undeniable staple you absolutely have to order if you haven't had it lately: The Bread Pudding French Toast.
Made with fluffy brioche, this classic dish has long been a massive crowd-pleaser and a signature favorite for regulars.
And, of course, the Wall of Service is still prominently displayed, honoring the brave men and women who have served our country.

Rev Up for a Cause: The Car Show
To celebrate the community that has supported them for over a decade, Kevin, Alana, and Mark are hosting a Charity Car Show right outside the diner at The Village Medford Center.
When: August 1st, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM
The Cause: 100% of the proceeds from the event are going directly to Operation Rambo, a fantastic organization dedicated to supporting veterans.
It’s going to be an evening of great classic cars, nostalgia, and a community coming together to back our service members.
Next time you’re strolling through The Village, follow the music and head into Punky’s. Grab a booth, say hi to Kevin, Alana, and Mark, and grab a slice of pie. There’s always room at the table!
